Hi everybody and welcome to the big weekend!!!

First of all, an important news,  next Saturday progress test unit 11 and 12( more or less 20/25 minutes).
Besides, it would be a good idea to download a free aplication for improving our listening: 6 Minute English (BBC).

    Speaking:   page 82 exercise 1.
page 86 exercise 1, using the vocabulary of exercise 2
                       page 94 exercices 1,2 and 3
   Listening: page 94 exercise 4
Grammar: The pasive voice and the backshift ( it´s a change of a tense in the indirect speech).

Tom recommended me to remember these important points in the reading:
1- Read all the questions + underline important words.
2- Skim the test + underline information related to questions.
   3- Answer the easy questions.
4- Read in more detail for other questions. ( questions in same order as test and max 15/20 minutes)

  Homework:
 Reading: pages 82-83
Page 84- it´s an difficult and optional exercise.
 Page 85- exercise 8
 Page 94- exercise 3
Pages 90, 91, 92 and 93 would be useful to prepare next progress test.
Have a great week!!!!

Satish Kumar video: human nature

Satish Kumar video: human nature

Here's a talk by Satish Kumar on human nature, and how to improve ourselves.
Try to make a list of the positive and negative qualities he mentions.
Don't worry if you don't understand all the gardening vocabulary he uses as a metaphor at the beginning, but if you're feeling ambitious you can also try to list the positive and negative plants he mentions.

I hope you enjoy it.

One day I visted to one of these language exchange events and it was impressive.
I could meet a lot of people from English spoken countries and Germany, Russia etc.
I hope we can go together someday!

I just started a blog!

Hi guys!
I just started a blog today. I will blog some of my homeworks which I did during my degree and financial articles to show my interests about finances and to practice language.
It will be written down in Spanish, English or Korean.

This is my first blogging in English : The evolution of deposit facility from 1994 in European Central Banks.

I will be appreciated with you if you visit the link!

Exam task techniques.

Here are my suggestions on how to approach some of the typical FCE exam tasks. I hope you'll find them useful.

You can, and should, practice them on this website. Being familiar with the exam tasks is essential.

Exam techniques.

Word Formation:
First predict the form of the missing Word. Is it a verb, an adjective, a noun perhaps? This may seem like a waste of time under exam pressure, but it will get you better marks.

Gapped reading:
1.       Read missing phrases.
2.       Skim text, underlining anything that seems connected to the missing phrases
3.       Now complete the gaps which seem clearest.
4.       Finally, read the paragraphs you haven’t completed, paying special attention to the sentences immediately before and after the gaps.
5.       Remember to answer everything. Even if you’re guessing, you may be right.

Reading: (See suggestions in SB p.58-60)

1.       Read the questions carefully, they test detailed understanding.
2.       Skim the text, underlining anything that seems connected to the questions.
3.       Now answer the questions that seem clearest to you.
4.       Look for the sentences specifically related to the questions you haven’t answered yet. (They are asked in the same order as the paragraphs in the text.)

Listening – Sentence completion: (See suggestions in SB p.68)

1     1.  You have 45 seconds to read and underline the questions.
2    2.   During the first listening, take notes.
3    3.  During the second listening, confirm.
4    4.  Answer everything: you don’t lose points for a wrong answer.
